Brainstorm Toys Deep Space Home Planetarium Star ProjectorA neat little STEM toy with multiple functions. Kids between 6 and 10 will love to learn more about space with this hands-on device.★★★½ This is a great quality star projector for any space fan. We were dubious how good this star projector would be, as historically, novelty-shaped star projectors are pretty disappointing. POCOCO Galaxy Projector: Shine with Real Galaxy
Like the Atmosphere Smart Galaxy Projector, you won't get scientific accuracy, but you'll get a fantastic 'insomnia-busting' experience that allows your children (or yourself) to sleep better at night. The design quality is top notch, it really projects at HD quality. The galaxy scenes and colors are incredibly vivid and realistic. You can see every detail of the galaxy and stars unlike other room projectors that blurs or greys out. I also like how it rotates slowly like watching a real constellation, and how you can switch them out whenever you want based on your mood. As discussed in our Bresser Junior Astro-Planetarium Deluxe review, this star projector draws many parallels to the Bresser-made National Geographic Astro Planetarium but doesn't include an integrated FM radio or the ability to attach an audio device. The Bresser Junior can only be powered by 3 x AA batteries, so buyers will likely need to grab some spares if they use it long-term. The only downside with the Atmosphere Smart Galaxy Projector is that the nebulas and stars aren't scientifically accurate. Still, we enjoyed the experience so much that we didn't feel short-changed. We were especially happy with the option to adjust both the brightness and the projection speed, which makes the device great for setting a calm environment or an energetic party scene. The best star projectors can either be used as home planetariums, projecting realistic night skies and galaxies indoors, or they can serve as soft, glowy night lights for adults or children.

Here's one for space fans and paleontology enthusiasts alike. The second novelty-shaped projector in this guide and it's surprisingly capable in terms of functionality, and during our Dinosaur Egg Galaxy Star Projector review our children loved it! As we confirmed in our BlissLights Evolve review, the operation is near silent like the Sky Lite 2.0. The Bliss Lights Sky Lite Evolve would be perfect in a gaming room, during a party, at a movie night or as a relaxation tool to unwind or drift off to sleep with. There are three models in the range — blue, green, or no lasers. This projector would be most suited to a child's bedroom, just be mindful that the lasers aren't pointing directly in anyone's line of sight — pretty easy to accomplish given the positioning flexibility the magnetic space helmet allows. It isn't scientifically accurate but it displays vivid nebula-inspired patterns to enhance the ambience in any room. A young child might prefer the Dinosaur Egg Galaxy Star Projector that we reviewed recently. Like the aforementioned SkyLite Evolve, it isn't scientific or educational, but it's a novelty item to add ambiance to a room or to use as a sleep aid. The hatching dinosaur egg design will appeal to any young space or dinosaur fan, as will the novelty astronaut design of the Astronaut Starry Sky Projector. On top of the Bluetooth speaker, there is also in-built 'white noise' functionality, presumably to be used as a sleeping-aid first and foremost. There's a catalog of 19 different sounds from a cow moo-ing and a dog barking, to more sleep-appropriate 'watery noises,' piano tunes and 'standard' white noise.

Despite the pleasant 'in-hand' appearance, we didn't like the choice of wording for some of the online marketing, for example: For a non-scientific projector, consider the BlissLights Sky Lite Evolve. This projector's primary purpose is to create an exciting, colorful atmosphere for parties, bedrooms, gaming rooms and beyond. Like the Pococo, it has a small, discreet, spherical design, and you can control the lights and lasers using a Smartphone app.The projections from this little projector are undoubtedly bright, sharp and vivid. The center wheel at the top is easy enough to turn with one finger to bring the images into focus. There is enough 'movement' in the focus wheel for projections at a range of distances. The ideal distance is 2.5m with a 12-meter squared projection area. The 5-Watt LED projects pin-sharp images across the whole projection, from edge to edge. The operation is quiet, and there are three sleep timers for automatic shut-off. There's no remote, app control, or in-built speaker, but these aren't functions you'll need if all you're doing is selecting your desired disk and switching the projector on to gaze at the stars. It serves no other purpose or provides any scientific accuracy. Still, it is a discrete, affordable, high-quality device that puts out visually stunning lasers to transform your surroundings while drawing very little energy. The faceted dome shape means the lights can be projected and dispersed over 180-degrees, meaning the whole ceiling is covered with lights.
