Asad is the perfume that makes Sauvage Elixir obsolete. Asad comes really close to Sauvage Elixir, but has a certain twist of its own. The fragrance is just great, on the one hand because the fragrance notes go well together, on the other hand because the longevity and sillage are really good. I like the spicy-sweet-slightly fruity scent of Asad better than the scent of Sauvage Elixir, which has a note that I don't like at all. While vanilla’s sweetness pairs well with the sweeter spice nuances that fade as the wear continues.
This is fall, winter, and early spring wear. You’ll have to be careful. If Asad gets too much heat, it becomes suffocating for you and those around you. As the fragrance settles, the middle notes emerge, weaving together a harmonious blend of patchouli, coffee, and iris. Asad lasts nine hours on the skin with above-average projection. The first two hours are intense; they push out past an arm’s length. After this period, it recedes to a mild ambiance of two feet for the rest of the wear. Specifically, Asad projects moderately from skin for the first 4 hours, before sitting closer for a final 6. At a point, it’s asif the sweetness is toned down, and you’re left with a matured, unapologetic dark patchouli and a low dose of Vetiver, mixed with a noticeable woody note. I don't allow myself to spend the kind of prices Sauvage Elixir retails for on a fragrance so I decided to take the plunge with Lattafa's more affordable option instead. Well, I wasn't disappointed. Asad was most surely inspired by the Dior, of course it's not 100% alike but there's no denying the similarity. I find the opening of Asad a little less remarkable or 'bright' than Elixir's, but I don't mind this too much as even though some character is perhaps lost, I find the drydown to be the nicest part!The bottle is okay for the price. In short: A really good perfume with a really good H/S and a fierce price / performance. Properly overdosed, this fragrance can be very penetrating. According to the general consensus, this is supposed to be a clone of Dior Sauvage Elixir. I haven’t smelt Sauvage elixir, though, so I’ll review this one as its own thing.
