About this deal

Unprecedented sound and expression with three simultaneous instrument types and advanced real-time signal processing I play in a cover band with no keyboard player. There are few songs we do that do which have synth solos or riffs for which I use this pedal. I insert it in the FX loop of my Line 6 Helix. I have found that it works best with electric standard guitars as opposed to the Line 6 Variax which also use occasionally. OSC Synth and GR-300: Complementing the powerful Dynamic Synth are two additional synth instruments. OSC Synth is an analog-style engine with lots of filter options, full ADSR control, and high-definition sound with the discrete GK input. Also included is a perfect sonic recreation of the Roland GR-300, the legendary 1980s analog guitar synth used by some of the world's most influential guitarists. a) You may only use the SOFTWARE on a specific single computer at one time. Use of the SOFTWARE shall include loading the SOFTWARE into temporary memory (i.e., RAM) or installing the SOFTWARE into storage media (i.e., hard disk) of the computer on which you will use the SOFTWARE. I originally got this because I wanted a new toy that would expand the enjoyment of playing guitar. It has some crazy sounds ( like any synth device does ) , but also has plenty of beautiful and colorful effects as well.

Dynamic Synth includes two 16-part step sequencers for evolving control of pitch, filter, and amplitude I have decided that the footswitch makes more sense for me (Bass) than the expression pedal function. The A/B footswitch controls the HOLD and the other controls Octave Up/Tap Tempo functions. I thought the organ emulations better than the ones from the SY-300, though I don't think they're as convincing as the ones from the Electro-Harmonix B9 and C9. When layered behind a guitar, though, you'll still have the audience believing you have a keyboard player hidden behind the curtain. Some have a built-in vibrato that I'd have preferred to be able to switch off — that way I could have used my own rotary speaker pedal to create a more realistic effect. There is one excellent patch which gets close to a Vox Continental sound with the vibrato switched on, which will be handy for all those times you get bullied into playing 'House Of The Rising Sun'! The bass section is unashamedly analogue: fat, deep and often squelchy, and perfect for monophonic lines, but you can still play chords. What's more, in true BOSS Compact Pedal style, the SY-1 occuppies the minimal amount of space on your pedalboard. Plug-and-Play and Latency-FreeChoose from analogue synth leads, warm pads, ambient textures, modelled electric and acoustic tones and more individually or three at a time. You can even apply alternate tunings no matteryour guitar's current setup. Pitch, level, layering and panning options are available for each instrument, on top ofspecific controls applied to effects. Even better still are two distinct modes for both bass and electric guitar, which adapts sounds appropriately to eachinstrument. Sequencers First let me start by saying what a fun pedal this is, that it does everything its advertised to do, and that if you're interested in pulling synth sounds from your guitar that you should go ahead and buy it. But now I want to go into more detail about how an already impressive pedal can become so much more impressive depending on how you're using it. A fun and effective new feature on the SY-1 is the ability to sustain the last-played synth sound, whilst you jam with your regular guitar sound over the top. Simply press and hold the pedal switch as you play the "drone" note, and then play regularly over the top of it.

The "organ" sounds are really excellent IMO, and that's all I wanted it for. (Paul Butterfield and Dylan blues tunes sound great with it). I've had this for about 2 months now and haven't even scratched the surface of all the sounds and effects it is capable of. 11 settings with 11 options on each one, then changes even more by adjusting the other knobs to enhance or change the settings. I have gone down the rabbit hole several times playing with all the sounds for hours at a time. It seems to have endless possibilities.Let's consider some of the sound categories in a little more detail. The rhythmic banks are filled with arpeggiated and rhythmic sequences — rather reminiscent of the Stranger Things theme music, or some of the early Who material (eg. 'Won't Get Fooled Again' and 'Baba O'Reilly'). They can be varied in speed from quite leisurely to impossibly manic. If you have a use for them, you'll find that they sound most impressive. There are several special effects in the next section that sound somewhat like the rumbles from an eight-bit video game or space lasers, but after that we move onto more musical fare. The bell sounds don't have quite the detailed nuance of a dedicated FM synth but they do lean slightly in that direction, producing analogue interpretations of electric pianos and similar 'tinkly at the front' sounds. You won't fool anyone that you're playing a Fender Rhodes but, importantly, the sounds are musically valid.

b) The OSS, etc. in the case of the preceding paragraph shall be subject to the OSS, etc. license (herein referred to as "OSS License"), and you shall comply with the OSS License. The SY-1 would fit in any standard signal chain but can also be used to create unique synth tones with its send and return function. So you can patch drive pedals into the loop and send the combined output to modulation and delay to process the entire signal. The send can also be used as a direct output as which allows you to route your synth and guitar sounds to separate destinations. Key Features
